Motor Trend compares the BMW M3 to the Ford Mustang GT!
While it may seem a little odd at first, the BMW M3 and Ford Mustang GT are very close when it comes to their performance. How so you might be asking? Well the two videos posted below lay everything out in a very straightforward manner, making it easy to understand why people have been waiting for this match up. So sit back and enjoy both videos!
The CTS-V Coupe is taking on all competitors, both foreign and American!
The CTS-V Coupe is probably one of the most exciting designs to come out of General Motors in decades. It also has one of the most potent engines ever produced by the General, a 6.2L supercharged V8 with 556 hp. In the videos below, you will see Motor Trend pit it against an Audi RS5 and a BMW M3, Car and Driver set the CTS-V Coupe against the same pair but without any words, and now Road & Track has set the new Caddy against the 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. Check out all three videos and let us know what you think!
Ford Fusion hybrid pays off the quickest out of major hybrids!
The San Francisco Chronicle has published a piece on how long your modern hybrid will cost you over the long run, or more specifically, how long it will take you to recoup your higher initial cost of buying a hybrid vehicle over a conventional auto. The winner may shock you, because it’s not the Toyota Prius, or the Honda Insight. No, it’s none other than the 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid! A traditional sedan with a stellar hybrid powertrain, it not only won 2010 North American Car of the Year at the Detroit Auto Show, but it also won Motor Trend magazine’s Car of the Year award. GM looks for ways to cut platform per-vehicle costs, possible Cruze SS and 4-door coupe on the way?

We previously reported that General Motors could be moving the next generation Chevy Camaro to the same platform as the new Cadillac ATS and future CTS. This move would help them spread the development costs of the new platform over a broader range of products, meaning greater profits per car. Well now Motor Trend is reporting that Chevrolet could be developing two new vehicles off the Cruze platform. Those models would be a Cruze SS to take the place of the much loved Cobalt SS, and a 4-door coupe, much like Mercedes CLS line. While there isn’t much available yet, here’s to hoping that the Cruze could take both forms because, if well executed, GM could have two real winners on their hands.
GM to move Camaro to “Alpha” platfrom with Cadillac ATS?

In a recent Motor Trend article, some speculation has begun on the next generation Camaro. That’s right, the 5th gen hasn’t been out much more than a year, and already GM is thinking ahead. Could this be a sign of a new and improved GM? Lets hope so. Anyway, the Trend as I’m going to call them, is claiming that GM could move the 6th generation Camaro to the same platform as the upcoming Cadillac ATS. The ATS will slot in below the CTS (which will also be on the platform) so this could be a good way for the General to help lower per vehicle costs on the as yet unnamed platform. This strategy seems pretty smart as all three cars will need to lower their weight to improve fuel economy and performance figures. For more, head on over to the Trend.

Cadillac ATS to take on the best small luxury line-ups in the world!?

That’s right folks. Cadillac is serious about being a major player in the luxury car world again, so instead of fighting the bigger cars that are out there, they are going small. The car dubbed the “ATS” will slot in below the CTS and will be offered initially as a sedan, but will eventually spawn coupe, convertible and wagon variants. Could 2014 see the introduction of the first Mustang with an IRS?

Motor Trend magazine has decided to take some bits and pieces of information from Ford sources and try to figure out what the next Mustang will feature. They have made three guesses and all but one are directions Ford could logically take. Some feature the same live axel but more modern I4 and V6 EcoBoost powertrains, others an independent rear suspension and still others feature AWD. As the supply of Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator full-size SUV’s has dwindled, Ford announces that they will be increasing production of the large utes to meet demand. This move seems quite shocking considering how quickly people shunned large pickups and SUV’s when gas prices shot to the $4 a gallon mark. You can’t blame the automakers though for producing what people want, plus, the Expedition is more fuel efficient than the Toyota Sequoia, so it’s not as bad for the environment as all the liberal hippies and foreign car lovers like to think. Ford Motor Company has joined the ranks of only two other automakers in 17 years by winning both the Car of the Year and Truck of the Year awards. The Car was not really a shock to me, as the Ford Fusion hybrid was part of the winning team for Motor Trend’s Car of the Year. The Truck of the Year was the new runabout on the scene, the Ford Transit Connect. Both of these vehicles bested cars (or trucks) from the best automakers in the world and came out on top, proving yet again that Detroit can compete and it CAN WIN!!! The spy photos over at burlappcars.com show what could be the new Cadillac ATS, a sedan slated to be smaller than the current CTS. The folks at Autoblog however seem to think it is far more likely that this car is the Converj, based on what they saw last summer at GM’s design studios. Check out the pics and you be the judge.
