A possible bright spot for Chrysler: The new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Chrysler LLC)
Chrysler has unveiled it’s new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and I must say, it looks much sharper than the current model. Not only does it look better, but it boasts more power, improved fuel economy, more cargo and interior room, and tons of new creature comforts. For the full story, head on over to Autoblog. Hopefully Chrysler can keep really solid products like this rolling out the doors so that they can keep those doors open…

2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 (Chrysler)
Many people out there are against vehicles like this. The 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is actually a pretty incredible vehicle. It’s fast, handles well, has room for 5 plus their stuff, but still they question: why do you need a go fast SUV? Well, Autoblog set out to answer that question (and several others) in their week long review of the vehicle. Surprisingly, even when rated at 13 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, the staff was impressed with the vehicle. I also happen to like the styling of the truck with the SRT wheels, body modifications and Brembo brakes, plus, who wouldn’t like a 420 hp engine in their car. Rocky Mountain (High) Edition models coming to a Jeep dealer near you!

Jeep Rocky Mountain Editions (Chrysler)
Finally, some not-so-horrible news about Chrysler. The Jeep brand decided that a special trim package is needed to help revive sales, so it has created the Rocky Mountain Editions of the Jeep Patriot, Liberty and Grand Cherokee. All of the models will be available for 2009. The package includes a sunroof, up-level audio system including uConnect and SIRIUS satellite radio, alloy wheels and unique paint colors with special badges (Badges? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges!) For the full story including pricing and Chrysler’s press release, head on over to Autoblog.

2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Once again, Jalopnik has come through and found images of the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango full-size SUVs. They offer up an interesting comparison with side by side with the current models. To be honest, I’m not a big fan of Chrysler design but these new offerings look pretty sharp. Much more modern, with tighter tolerances between body panels. Chrysler is also claiming that the new vehicles will offer a 19% fuel economy improvement, and also have Consumer Reports reliability 40% better than industry average. I wish Chrysler the best of luck in accomplishing those goals.
