Ford could bring 10 Focus variants to the United States…AWWEESSOOMME!

There is simply no other way to describe it. Ford is getting serious about its car business, as you can clearly see after the success of the Ford Fusion and Fusion hybrid, and the all new Taurus. Now Ford is turning its attention to its smaller cars, namely the Fiesta and the Focus. Well, according to marketing exec, Jim Farley, Ford could bring somewhere around 10 versions of the Focus to the United States. The versions range from the base sedan to a coupe, three- and five-door hatches, wagons and small crossovers! The new Focus is set to debut in Detroit this January so stay tuned for the latest. For now, head on over to Car and Driver.

On Friday night, around 10:00 PM, I parked next to one of the 100 Fiesta Movement vehicles in the parking lot of a P. F. Chang’s in Lansing, Michigan. ”How cool!” I thought, what are the odds that I would run into of the 100 vehicles that were handed out as part of the Fiesta Movement? Then to my surprise, I ran into the owner, Fiesta Agent 22, Bryan Redeker from Grand Haven, Michigan! Another box can be checked off my list of things to do before I die. Not only was Bryan enthusiastic about meeting me, a Ford engineer, but he is totally pumped for the U. S. launch of the Fiesta!
Why wouldn’t he be? It’s one of the best looking B cars that will be available anywhere, and on top of that, it is fun to drive! For more on the car, head on over to the Ford Vehicles website.

The European Fiestas that have been running around the country as part of the Fiesta Movement are very impressive! Not only are they stylish but they are fun to drive and get rather impressive gas mileage! Well the Fiesta is finally coming to North America next year, and this appears to be the first shots of what the NA Fiesta will look like. In my opinion, it is still a very sharp looking vehicle, with very little large changes between the European model and the U.S. one. For more pictures, head on over to Autoblog.

2011 Ford Fiesta to show it’s North American face at LA Auto Show!

The LA Auto Show has been pretty big for Ford in recent years. Last years show featured the unveiling of the 2010 Mustang. This years show will be home to the release of the 2011 Ford Fiesta. Sure, you’re seen the Fiesta online a million times by now, what with the Fiesta Movement going on and all, but this will be the first time the North American version is seen by the public. It is expected to only receive minor changes due to differences in crash regulations, but that’s about it! For more details, head on over to Autoblog.
The most interesting part to me is the fact that Ford is stating that they have 50,000 people interested in the car, and 97% of those do not currently own a Ford!

2011 Ford Fiesta vs. 2010 Honda Fit at Edmunds…who’s going to throw a victory party? Or should I say, victory Fiesta?

Ok, ok, so my headline is a bit cheesy. Can you blame me? I’m so excited about the products that are coming from all of the big three, so it’s great to see people are finally taking notice! In this comparison between the 2010 Honda Fit and the 2011 Ford Fiesta, the Fiesta really makes its mark on the automotive world by offering things many drivers wouldn’t expect in the subcompact market. For the full review, as well as the winner of the test, head on over to Edmunds.

In what was a huge upset for Subaru fans everywhere, Kenny Brack in a Ford Fiesta beat Travis Pastrana in a Subaru WRX to take the gold in the rally event at the X Games 15. Travis was out ahead slightly during the first lap, but then he came in too hot, tagged a wall and bounced across into the other, ending his run. All three Ford Fiestas made it to the semifinals, which is pretty impressive. For more details head on over to Autoblog.

According to reports in the latest Automotive News, Lincoln and Mercury products will begin to get smaller and smaller over the next few years to help combat vehicle bloat and improve fuel economy. Part of the downsizing will start next year as Ford begins bringing over some of its European vehicles like the Ford Fiesta. Mercury will also be getting its own version of the next generation Focus. Ford will reduce average age of product lineup to 2.4 years!

Ford Motor Company has been having one heck of a year. First they were the only American automaker to not take government assistance. Then they were the only one to not file for bankruptcy. Now it’s being announced that they are going to have one of the freshest product lineups in the industry, thanks in part to the launch of 10 new or redesigned vehicles this year. This includes the new 2010 Ford Taurus, 2010 Lincoln MKT, 4 vehicles with Ecoboost, the new Fusion, Milan and MKZ, and more.
In addition to those vehicles, 5 more will be launched next year. The new Ford Fiesta being one, a new Focus, an electric version of the Transit Connect van, and a redesigned Super Duty pickup. For more details, head on over to The Detroit Free Press.
It’s nice to see that Ford hasn’t had to make any changes to its product revamp, and that even in these tough times they can afford to put out some really great products.
Watch it you boron!! Ford Fiesta takes on flying tire and wins

AutoWeek Road Test Editor Natalie Neff was driving in the Ford Fiesta that was provided to her for a review when suddenly the unexpected happened. A tire removed itself from an Oldsmobile Cutlass and crossed the median, flying some 20 feet into the air before smashing down onto the Fiesta’s hood, ending up in the top of the windshield.
Incredibly, Neff escaped the Fiesta with nothing more than some cuts from broken glass. What does Neff credit for her minimal injuries? The boron variety of ultra-high-strength steel that was used in the A and B pillars to help the Fiesta handle impacts with larger vehicles while at the same time reducing the weight of the car. While it isn’t new, it’s use to this extent in such a low price point vehicle is. For more on the crash, head on over to AutoWeek.

The website for the new 2011 Ford Fiesta, which can be found here, has an option where you can customize a vehicle to suit your wants/needs. It seems that Ford is trying to do some research into exactly what Ford Fiesta owners will want on their new vehicles. When you select the Design Your Own tab on the top of the page, there is a survey asks to select the top three options that you would like to have on your vehicle. One of the possible votes is for a turbocharged engine. Please, please, PLEASE vote with me for the turbocharged option. Ford needs a small car in the United States that has a turbocharged engine mated to a manual transmission.
