Even more ads still! Ford’s “Drive One” series rolls on!
Man! The hits just keep on coming for Ford! All of the 15 second long “Drive One” ads were created without the customers knowing they were being filmed for a Ford commercial. They were just asked to talk about what they loved on their new Ford and the praise just started flowing!
Ford’s 15 second Drive One ads seem to be working out well for the automaker…or at least that’s what I would guess seeing as how they have come out with 5 sets of new ads. Let us know what you think of the videos above!
Ford’s hybrid sales up 73% this year, thanks in large part to Fusion/Milan hybrids…

This time last year Ford Motor Company was selling 73% fewer hybrids. This is in large part due to the increase in available hybrid models, from 2 models last year (Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner) to 4 now with the addition of the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan hybrids.
Even better is that 60% of Fusion hybrid buyers and 52% of all Fusion buyers were non-Ford owners before their latest purchase! For the full story, as well as Ford’s official press release, head on over to Autoblog Green.

Even though it won’t be built, Saturn VUE 2-Mode hybrid rated at 27/30 mpg by EPA!

The Saturn VUE 2-Mode hybrid was supposed to hit the market late 2008/early 2009. When the market crashed, it was one of the first programs to be cut, and now that Saturn is being transitioned over to Penske, the VUE itself doesn’t have much life left in it. That didn’t stop the General from having the VUE hybrid EPA certified, bringing home a 27 mpg city, 30 mpg highway rating. While that doesn’t seem so great compared to the Ford Escape hybrid, the VUE features a V6 compared to the Ford’s I4. The VUE beats the Toyota Highlander hybrid though, which is rated at only 27 mpg city, 25 mpg highway. For more on the story, head on over to Autoblog.

The 2010 GMC Terrain is built on the same platform as the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. Now before everyone starts crying “badge engineering” take a look at the two vehicles side by side. The GMC features it’s own distinct sheet metal and interior layout. However, these two vehicles do share when it comes to powertrains and that is a very good thing. The reason? The Equinox and Terrain both come standard with a 2.4L Ecotec 4-cylinder that achieves an EPA estimated 32 mpg on the highway. That’s a class leading figure, even beating the Ford Escape hybrid by 1 mpg.

GMC Terrain (KGP / Autoblog)
More GM news today. So, an embargo was broken using Twitter which, according to Jalopnik, is the first time that has happened. The official unveiling of the new GMC Terrain is scheduled for April 5Th, but information has been leaked out that the GMC Terrain will seat 5, and achieve 30 mpg on the highway. This is a huge jump forward for GM, as this puts them above their key competition, the Toyota Rav4 and Honda CR-V, even though this vehicle is larger than them both. In the full story on Autoblog, they state that the only vehicles in it’s class to do better, are it’s future cousin, the 2010 Chevy Equinox, the Ford Escape Hybrid and the Saturn Vue Hybrid. More proof that the domestics are fighting back and winning the war on fuel economy.
What do celebrities drive (aka which ones support America?)

President Barrack Obama
While browsing the web, Alex and I have often wondered, what do celebrities drive? The easy answer is that most drive Toyota Prius’ because well, they’re idiots. They think they’re helping the environment by still burning gas. Sure they’re burning less, but with all the money they have, they’d pay someone to build them a fuel cell car, or better yet, an electric car charged by renewable resources. Well anyway, there are still some celebs left in this country that feel it’s important to support our manufacturing base (imagine how upset they’d all be if we just stopped seeing American movies because foreign ones are better?) The list is as follows:
Barrack Obama – Ford Escape Hybrid (technically now it’s a heavily modified Cadillac)
Hillary Clinton – Mercury Mariner Hybrid
John Kerry – 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid
Paris Hilton – 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid
Jonas Brothers – Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid, Jeep Commander and Ford Mustang
Jay Leno – Retrofitted Chrysler Crossfire
Al Gore – 2007 Mercury Mariner Hybrid
Sure, I don’t like most of those people, but I appreciate their support and hopefully, more people will follow suit, because those vehicles are all top notch, especially the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner Hybrids, the most fuel efficient SUV’s on the planet. Head on over to Forbes for the full list, including people who prefer to send their money to Japan.
