Could 2014 see the introduction of the first Mustang with an IRS?

Motor Trend magazine has decided to take some bits and pieces of information from Ford sources and try to figure out what the next Mustang will feature. They have made three guesses and all but one are directions Ford could logically take. Some feature the same live axel but more modern I4 and V6 EcoBoost powertrains, others an independent rear suspension and still others feature AWD. According to a report from PickupTrucks.com, Ford Motor Company plans to offer an F-150 with a V6 engine again. That engine will be the 3.7L V6 that will be found in the 2011 Mustang and Lincoln MKX and should be good for around 300 horsepower and 23-24 miles per gallon! Also stated in the article is the notion that Ford plans to offer the F-150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 as well. 2010 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for Ford indeed!

2010 Ford Taurus named International Car of the Year at LA Auto Show!!!

The 2010 Ford Taurus was named the International Car of the Year at the LA Auto Show and for good reason. The car features a fresh new exterior, bold interior layout, as well as an exciting powertrain option in the 3.5L EcoBoost V6. For more details, head on over to Autoblog.

Ford having early success with EcoBoost both in orders and transaction prices!

For the first few months, it appears that EcoBoost is a hit with consumers. The take rate on vehicles with available EcoBoost has been higher than originally predicted. This is great news, but there is more! The transaction prices on the EcoBoost equipped cars is some $5,000 to $10,000 higher than their non-EcoBoost counterparts! Not only that but the EcoBoost models are seeing a higher conquest rate than their similar non-EcoBoost models. This sounds to me like nothing but good news for Ford, and the U.S., seeing as the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost is built in Ohio, along with the Ford Taurus SHO and Lincoln MKS with EcoBoost. For more details (and quite a detailed write-up) head on over to The Detroit News.

The Flex has been turning heads since it jumped onto the scene a few years back, but until now, it lacked the power to whip heads back in the seat. For 2010 the Flex receives the optional 3.5L Ecoboost V6, a 355 horsepower, twin-turbo, gas direct injected beast of a motor. What does the new powertrain bring to the table? Head on over to Autoblog to find out!
Ford files 125 patents on Ecoboost, making it one of the baddest engines ever!

OK, so the number of patents doesn’t mean your engine is bad-ass, but it does show that you mean business…in the…car business. The new Ecoboost motors combine direct injection with turbocharging to offer the power of a larger engine, with the fuel economy of a smaller one. For more details on the engine and its new patents, head on over to Autoblog.

Check out the 2010 Lincoln MKS with Ecoboost taking on the best from Europe!

Automobile and Motor Trend car magazines have decided to put together a little advertising comparison between the 2010 Lincoln MKS with Ecoboost and several luxury models from Europe, all powered by V8′s. The videos are pretty impressive, as is the performance of the Ecoboost V6 versus the competition. You can check out all the vids at 6versus8.com.

Ford F-150 to receive Ecoboost engine in the near future…

So there aren’t many details on this story, but the guys over at Autoblog have found in a Ford press release another confirmation from the automaker that the F-150 will indeed get Ecoboost. The best guess is that the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost unit similar to the unit found in the Taurus, MKS, MKT and Flex will be the engine of choice, but power output remains speculation. The engine will supposedly offer a 20% increase in fuel efficiency over a naturally aspirated engine of similar output. For (slightly) more information, head on over to Autoblog.

2010 Ford Taurus and Taurus SHO ad campaign to begin airing August 4th!

Ford seemed to have a hit on their hands with the 2010 Fusion ads that claimed, “We speak car.” Well the Fusion is selling at record levels compared to last years numbers, so now the push begins to sell the brand new 2010 Taurus and its sporty, Ecoboost equipped sibling, the Taurus SHO. The ads focus mostly on the technological goodies that are packed into the Taurus, as well as items not found anywhere else like SYNC. For all of the details, as well as the comparison graphics, head on over to Jalopnik.

Another stunning review for another great Ford product. The Flex with Ecoboost made a big impression on the Autoblog staff, proving to them the benefits of Ecoboost while towing at altitude, while also showing how the Flex has improved for 2010. The comments were interesting, but the overall impression is that the Flex is a real contender in the segment. It provides better fuel efficiency than its SUV based competition, while offering similar gas mileage and better performance than its CUV competition.
