According to dealers and others who are in-the-know, Chrysler is planning on not only changing the “look” of the Sebring (halleluiah), but also the name. Nassau will be the new name and was the name of a Chrysler concept vehicle at the 2007 Detroit auto show. The Sebring’s image has been greatly tarnished because of its cheap interior and poor quality (I’d even throw in exterior styling). Every other automaker has a competitive mid-size sedan in the marketplace; therefore it is very important for Chrysler to get the Nassau right – as younger buyers upgrade from smaller cars, they look at this segment.

The Nassau and the new Dodge Avenger are expected to have completely new exterior styling, new fuel efficient powertrain options (2.4 liter four cylinder or the new V6 Pentastar), and vastly improved interior quality. The new vehicles are expected to launch towards the end of this year – they cannot come soon enough!

Sam Hubinette has decided to start his own racing team and the video above shows you the fruits of his labor.  Amazing what American metal can do in the hands of a real professional!

The most common car used by the fuzz is the Ford Crown Victoria.  They are everywhere on the roads today, however, that car is on a platform that is close to twice my age.  So law enforcement has been looking for a replacement for years and now it appears that the competition for their business is heating up.  The one car currently on the road is the Dodge Charger.  The up and coming contenders are the Chevrolet Caprice and the new Ford Police Interceptor.  Well the gang at Autoblog has put together a comparison chart to see how the 4 police prepped vehicles stack up against one another.  For more details, head on over to Autoblog.

The video above shows the V10 from the Dodge Viper ACR-X during dyno testing.  The nicely crafted exhaust headers glow a nice orange as they start to heat up under the strain of durability testing.

Word on the street is that Chrysler could be considering moving forward with a smaller, 5.0L Cummins diesel that would go in everything from the Ram 1500 on up to the 3500HD.  If these rumors are true, I think it will be a great step for Chrysler to take.  It might even persuade Ford and GM to kick start their programs again.  Imagine a Ram, Silverado/Sierra, F-150 with a smaller displacement diesel, tons of torque and improved fuel economy?  What’s not to love!?  For more details, head on over to PickupTrucks.com.

Jeep dealers are complaining that they are running low on hard top Wranglers.  While I was never really a fan of the Wrangler in the past, my in car ride experience sure changed that.  When I originally saw this story I thought, “man, Jeeps are selling that well huh?”  Well sadly, I was wrong.  In this day and age of supplier bankruptcies, everyone is getting affected in one way or another.  Well the original supplier for the hard tops has gone under, and during the transition to the new supplier, production has been halted.  This means dealers have been forced to order soft top models, which just aren’t as popular in most markets as the hard tops.  For the full story, head on over to Autoblog.
