There are three issues that Camaro owners should probably get checked on their cars.  One involves the spoiler, another the HVAC, and the third the V8 wiring harness.  Oh, there is another issue they should have looked at, involving the headliner causing extreme static for drivers with mullets…just kidding!  Owners are advised to have their cars looked at at their earliest convience, aka this is not a recall.  For more details, head on over to Camaro5.

Why is it that I never hear about a Toyota Prius being auctioned off for charity?  No matter, we’re here to focus on the Domestics!  Check out the image of the Hurst SEMA Camaro above, and get the full scoop at Autoblog!  It’s quite an attractive looking custom, and helping out a charity is never a bad thing.

americas-best-drivers-car-scattered-group-shot

Motor Trenddecided to put together a group of 10 cars they called “Today’s Ultimate Performance Cars” and from them they picked America’s Best Driver’s Car.  When you look at the list, it’s quite an impressive group of cars, ranging from an Audi R8 to a Mazda Miata MX-5.  The interesting thing is that 4 of the cars are from the Domestic manufacturers, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, Cadillac CTS-V and Chevrolet Camaro.  Not surprising, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai and Kia all failed to post a car in the test, simply because they don’t really produce a single car that would ever be in the same sentence as the word “performance” – well unless the word “horrible” was in front of it.

For the full 18 page test, head on over to Motor Trend.

American Muscle Car challenge, brought to you by Edmunds!

Countless magazines have been comparing the Challenger R/T, Camaro SS and Mustang GT with varying results.  Sometimes the Camaro comes out ahead, other times it’s the Mustang.  This caused quite a stir amongst automotive enthusiasts who screamed, “Why is the top of the line Camaronot up against the top of the line Challenger or Mustang?”  Of course there are obvious reasons for this, but Edmunds decided to answer that question anyway with a new test.

They put the Camaro SS up against the Challenger SRT8 and the Shelby GT500 Mustang.  Hardly a fair fight considering the Mustang has 540 hp from the factory…well you’ll just have to head on over to read the results for yourself!

2010 Camaro V6 to take on Nissan GT-R at the ‘Ring???

Ok, so you’ve probably figured out we’re not talking about the stock 2010 Camaro V6.  I mean, it’s a great car by it’s own right; a 3.6L direct injected V6 with 304 hp, and an EPA estimated 29 mpg on the highway.  The Camaro that plans to take on the GT-R at the Nurburgring in Germany is one that has been prepped by Texas tuning firm East Texas Muscle Cars.  The engine will be getting a heavy re-work with forged pistons, crank and rods, as well as a pair of Squires Turbo Systems turbos.  Various other mods will be included such as big Baer brakes, coilovers, and lightweight 20 inch forged wheels.  For more, head on over to Inside Line.

So, I don’t know much about the KONI challenge, or who Momentum Race Group is, but I do know this much; their race Camaros look sick!  For the full details on the car and the racing series in which the two Momentum Camaros will take on Mustangs and Challengers, click on over to Grand-Am.

For those of you not familiar with the Yenko Camaros, here’s some background from our friends at Autoblog.  Back in 1969, Don Yenko, owner of a Chevrolet dealership in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, figured out that Camaros could be ordered with an L-72 427 cubic inch V8 through GM’s Central Office Production Order program.  These cars were originally intended as fleet vehicles for police cars and taxi cabs.  They came with power disc brakes, a 4.10 final drive ratio, upgraded suspension, a heavy duty radiator, front and rear spoilers, and cowl induction hood.  Only 200 were build making them some of the most rare and valuable muscle cars in existence.

This is where the show, Chop, Cut, Rebuild comes into play.  They teamed up with Original Equipment Reproduction and D&P Classic Chevy to build a Yenko Camaro tribute car.  They basically used a brand new ’69 Camaro body shell but installed lots of today’s technologies like a brand new crate LS7 V8 that makes 505 hp, six-piston brakes and more.  They even got their hands on a 2010 Camaro and painted it to match.  Both cars look really sweet, so make sure you check them out!

Take a look at Car and Driver’s comparison of the Mustang GT, Chevy Camaro SS, and Dodge Challenger R/T. This is the first time the three muscle cars have been compared (by Car and Driver) since…the sixties!?

Chevy Orlando concept (GM)

GM chief executive Fritz Henderson says that Chevrolet will be fully competitive, and a leader in fuel economy within two years.  This transformation will be lead by new products like the new 2010 Camaro, Cruze, Spark and seven-seat Orlando, all due out for the 2011 model year.  The new Equinox, launching in June, is expected to get 32 mpg on the highway, and the Chevy Volt range-extended-plug-in is on track to arrive in late 2010.  For more, head on over to AutoWeek.
