In a plan to promote branding consistency, GM decided to stop using the nickname Chevy. A memo with the plan was released to Chevrolet employees, tells them to stop using the name Chevy when working with dealers, advertisers, etc. The memo also references the use of branding-consistent names like Apple and Coke. Ironically, Coke is a nickname for Coca-Cola…someone didn’t think that example through.
Kind of stupid if you ask me…sounds like the genius at Chevy Chevrolet behind this idea needs to have his/her title changed to unemployed. Read the full article at The Detroit News.

Does the 2011 Ford Mustang GT produce over 430 horsepower???
Somehow the gang over at Inside Line managed to take a 2011 Ford Mustang GT, packing the new 5.0L V8, over to a dyno to see how the new ‘Stang would stand up against the Camaro. The answer? The car is rated at 412 horsepower and 390 pound feet of torque, but the car used produced 395 horsepower at the wheels! This means, when taking into account driveline losses of 11-13%, the new Mustang produces somewhere in the range of 440 horsepower! For more head on over to Autoblog or Edmunds.

The link to Jalopnik shows more shots of the carnage you see above, but basically the story goes like this. Some idiot was acting like an idiot in his Camaro SS and manged to basically cut the car in half with a telephone pole. He managed to walk away with nothing more than a cut on his head! Unbelievable! Just goes to show you how well built the new Camaro is I guess…
