Sales of the Cadillacs and Corvettes to resume in Europe!

General Motors has had a rough go at it these past few years.  What with the need for government bailouts and then filing for bankruptcy, things haven’t been harder really.  On top of that, GM’s distributor for Cadillacs and Corvettes in Europe went bust, meaning those cars haven’t been available in Europe for almost a year.  Well it now appears that GM has corrected that issue, reportedly in talks with about 30 dealerships around Europe to bring over the entire Corvette lineup, as well as the Cadillac CTS (coupe, sedan and wagon,) Escalade, CTS-V and SRX.  No word on pricing or availability yet, so stay tuned for more.  Until then, head on over to Autoblog.

2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon

Until recently, the 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon started at just a shade over $40k.  That’s nearly $6,000 more than the SRX crossover.  Ouch!  Shoppers felt the same way, and have been passing up the Sport Wagon in favor of the angular SRX.  While any sale is a good sale for Cadillac, they still want to push the Sport Wagon, so the decision makers have decided to drop the price by $1,300.  This lowers the base price for a CTS Sport Wagon to $38,265, or roughly $4935 more than an SRX.  Hopefully this plan works, as the Sport Wagon is one of the best looking wagons in years.  For more details, head on over to USA Today.

GM to use active aerodynamics to increase fuel efficiency!

2010 Chevrolet Silverado

In an earlier post, we told about how General Motors could spend around $1 billion to make the next generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra more competitive in terms of capability and fuel economy.  The current Silverado XFE holds the best fuel economy of any light-duty pickup at 22 mpg highway but that won’t be enough come the new EPA regulations in 2014.

According to Automotive News GM will employ technology like active shutters on the grille opening that would close at higher speeds when the engine doesn’t need maximum cooling.  This feature was first shown on the Cadillac Provoq crossover concept at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show.  This car later became the 2010 Cadillac SRX but it does not feature the electronically controlled shutters.  For more on this story, head on over to Autoblog.

2010 Buick LaCrosse

According to The Associated Press, demand for several GM vehicles has gotten so high that the current plants producing them are running at full capacity.  The plants that build the Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and Buick LaCrosse are all maxed out meaning that if sales pick up any more, GM will have to look for other places to build.  This is great news for several plants that GM currently has on stand-by in case they are needed to start production.  For more details, head on over to Autoblog.

2010 Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept

The car you see above is the Cadillac XTS concept, the car that is intended to replace both the STS and DTS and become Cadillac’s new flagship sedan.  The XTS takes a few design cues from the stunning Cadillac Sixteen concept and uses more bits from other models, such as the new SRX crossover.  The XTS could also sport a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, meaning this big luxury sedan could also be fairly green too.  For more details, head on over to Autoblog.

For those of you not keeping tabs, the Cadillac CTS coupe will go on sale next summer.  The video above shows just how progressive the design still looks even after being taken from concept to production.  Also in the video you will see the new 2010 Cadillac SRX crossover and the 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon.  What an incredible looking lineup.

2010 Cadillac SRX comes “highly recommended” from Autoblog!!!

2010-cadillac-srx-555

Oh how I wish I was writing for a website that had large amounts of traffic so that the automakers would give me new cars to drive.  Maybe in the future, but for now, I will settle for the detailed review written by Chris Shunk for Autoblog on the all new 2010 Cadillac SRX crossover.  The styling has been completely revamped, the car lost it’s third row, but in the process it gained much improved quality and craftsmanship.  To sum it all up, the car was given “high recommendations” from the Autoblog review

Hopefully this can show people yet again that GM is making quality cars, and all the haters in the comments section on Autoblog will shut their mouths about how great the Germans are when their crossovers can’t even compete with the class leading Lexus RX350.  Probably not, but hey, I can dream can’t I?

Cadillac has just released pricing for it’s all new 2010 SRX crossover.  The SRX will hit showrooms later this summer with a base price of $34,155.  Featuring a fuel efficient and powerful 3.0 liter direct injected V6, high tech features, versatility and visual appeal, the new SRX looks like it is poised to take a bite out of the competition.

Also announced was the release later this summer of the 2010 CTS Sport Wagon.  Even though I am not a fan of wagons myself, the CTS Sport Wagon is one heck of a sharp looking car.  For more details, and GM’s official press release, head on over to Autoblog.
