Jalopnik drives the 2011 Buick Regal and walk away very impressed!

I know, it’s hard to believe, but Jalopnik actually liked the 2011 Buick Regal! Can you blame them though, I mean, the car is based on the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia which has won tons of awards and is a top-seller. They have pretty much only one complaint about the car and that is…well, why don’t you just head on over to Jalopnik to find out what it is!

Could there be a Buick Regal GS in the future? Only time will tell…

The new 2011 Buick Regal is one heck of a good looking car. While it’s basically a re-badge of the Open Insignia, that is not a bad thing in the slightest because the Insignia has been a hit across the pond. What many people are asking is if its possible for the United States to get a more powerful version of the Regal, maybe based on the Insignia OPC that features 325 horsepower, AWD and a six-speed manual transmission. Only time will tell, but a quote captured by Car and Driver from Bob Lutz himself had the letters “GS” (for Grand Sport) and “335 horsepower” in the same sentence.

New Buick Regal might be the platform used for GM’s next generation hybrid system

If reports at Autoblog are to be believed, there is a new mid-size sedan hybrid model coming to GM’s Oshawa, Ontario assembly plant. The sedan in question is most likely the new 2011 Buick Regal. A sharp looking sedan with base and optional 4-cylinder engines and 6-speed automatics, it will already be a fairly fuel efficient vehicle so a hybrid option should make it even more attractive. For more details, head on over to Autoblog.

2011 Buick Regal is quite a looker, and should be fuel efficient too!

The 2011 Buick Regal is finally here (set to make its U.S. debut at the L.A. Auto Show in December) and it has retained all of the styling of the Opel Insignia on which its based and gained some new power train combinations. The Regal will only be offered with 2 different 4-cylinder engines. The base engine with be GM’s new 2.4L EcoTec that features direct injection and manages 32 mpg in the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox crossover. The optional engine will be GM’s 2.0L turbocharged direct injected EcoTec good for 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Video offers a brief glimpse at the new Buick Regal…that we have already seen…
The above video offers a quick look at the upcoming Buick Regal. Based off the Opel Insignia (which was slated to become the next generation Saturn Aura) it is a fairly sharp looking car. Here’s to hoping they bring over the OPC version for a Regal Sport model.
Welcome to our 600th post!! For our party we would like a Buick Regal GS please!!!

The site is rapidly approaching its one year anniversary and we are proud to announce that this is our 600th post!!! To celebrate, we are asking…no begging General Motors to PLEASE bring the Buick Regal to the U.S. with a performance version named…whatever you want. Autoblog has suggested the Regal GS, built on the same platform as the Opel Insignia OPC pictured above. Call your Senator, Representative, local neighborhood association president, the babysitter, just call anyone who can make this happen!

Buick to resurrect the Regal nameplate for newest mid-size sedan!

The new Opel Insignia is one sharp looking car. So sharp, in fact, that it was used as the basis for a Chinese market Buick Regal. Word has surfaced from GM that the Regal will be making a return to the U.S. market sometime soon. I would expect very minor changes, as the vehicle is already impressive, so hopefully we will see it in dealers sometime in the near future. For more details, head on over to Autoblog.

Soon to be joining the Chevrolet Camaro at the Oshawa assembly plant is the new Cadillac XTS, a new large sedan currently under development, and the new Buick Regal, which is a re-badged European Opel Insignia. A redesigned Chevrolet Impala will also be built at the plant. Also in the announcement was mention of a hybrid of one of the models, bringing the total new models slated for production in Canada up to 5! For all of the details, head on over to the National Post.
