Well, sort of – check out this hilariously awesome video of a comparison of the Ford Fiesta and a Lamborghini.

Ford has finally begun production of the highly acclaimed Fiesta B-car in its Cuautitlán, Mexico assembly plant. The car will be available in June and is expected to compete with the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris.

Autoblog reviews the North American 2011 Ford Fiesta!

The 2011 Ford Fiesta is getting close to sale here in the United States and Autoblog has had a go at both a manual version and an automatic, the sedan and the hatchback, and their review is quite good.  They do have some negatives to point out, like how the soft touch IP looks much better than the non-soft touch door trims, but what competitor in this class offers even half the features or looks of the Fiesta?  None!  The Nissan Versa is one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen, the Toyota Yaris is downright boring (what Toyota isn’t?) and the Honda Fit is rather uninspiring.  For the full review, head on over to Autoblog.

In Ford’s push to increase their car’s fuel efficiency, they have decided to start building a dual-clutch, six speed automatic they call PowerShift.  The transmissions went online this week in Mexico where they will be shipped to another plant to be installed in the new 2011 Ford Fiesta.  They are also planned for the 2012 Ford Focus.  For more details, head on over to Autoblog.

More good news for the Dearborn, Michigan based Ford Motor Company.  According to a Bloomberg survey 36% of Americans have a negative view of Toyota, and only 49% have a favorable view of them.  While this news wouldn’t normally be that big of a deal, companies go through good times and bad no matter who they are, the big story here is Ford.  A staggering 77% of Americans have a favorable opinion of FoMoCo, which is 7% better than Honda!

As Autoblog points out, there are several reasons why the survey results most likely came out in this way.  First, Ford did not take government assistance, nor did they file for bankruptcy like General Motors or Chrysler.  Second, Ford is making some amazing products; probably the best products they have ever made in their 100+ year history.  Cars like the 2011 Mustang and 2010 Fusion that are not only more powerful than the previous model year, but are also more fuel efficient.  The F-150 has been a best seller for over 30 years and new products like the Transit Connect and Fiesta are already huge hits with consumers.

For the full report, head on over to Bloomberg.

Ford adding three-blink feature to complete lineup going forward

2011 Ford Super Duty

Have you ever been stuck behind someone who left their blinker on for miles and miles?  Do you find yourself getting annoyed with the person, not sure if they are changing lanes or just forgetful?  Well it bothers me, so I’m glad to hear that someone is doing something about it.  Ford, using data from a driver survey, is adding a three-blink feature to its turn signals.  When the turn signal is tapped either up or down, the signal will blink in the chosen direction three times, and then turn off.  This feature is useful when changing lanes, and will prevent drivers from leaving their signal on and allow drivers to concentrate on the lane change instead of turning the signal on and then off again.  The feature will debut in the 2011 Ford Fiesta, then on the 2011 Super Duty, before migrating across the brand.  For more details, head on over to Autoblog.

2011 Ford Fiesta sedan

Ford Motor Company is betting that many of the 2011 Fiesta buyers will choose several option boxes and jack the price up from the base $13,320 that the sedan starts at.  Ford has had luck with the Fiesta in Europe and Australia, but only time will tell how the little b-sizer does here in the States.  Till then, head on over to Autoblog.

Ford Fiesta was designed with the U. S. in mind from the get go

2011 Ford Fiesta

The Ford Fiesta has started to turn heads the past 6 months or so.  It features sharp, European-styling, high-tech features like a navigation screen, automatic climate control, and class leading 40 mpg fuel economy on the freeway.  Ford knew the car had to have features in order to be attractive to American consumers, but it also had to fit our “bigger is better” lifestyle.  For that, the engineers designed adjustable cupholders that can fit a Big Gulp cup from 7-11.  For more on the story, head on over to MSNBC.
